Well I certainly did not think finding any Mums for my front door would be such an ordeal. I went to my local nursery and they were in 3″ pots and looked sad and miserable.
I found HUGE ones at Smart and Final but there were no blooms on the plant. I really know nothing about plants, especially Mums. I was afraid if I spent $18 bucks on that huge plant and then discovered they never bloomed I would feel stupid.
Was it really that hard to find a plant.
I guess so.
I decided to check out my local Wal-Mart’s garden center and lo and behold. $5.oo buckets of mums.
Were they they best out there….no, but they were bright and sunny.
At Michael’s Crafts I found these cute olive buckets and thought it would make the plants look better than the regular old pot.
I like how they look. Very pretty and not a huge investment of money.
It was Hallmark movie watching time! Nothing like watching a sappy romance movie, and the Hallmark Channel masters that genre.
This movie was the third installment of a very popular couple.
Since I did not watch the original two movies, I had to go back and watch the first two to get grounded on the premise and characters.
I have to admit I liked the first two movies better.
This movie, was cute but I did not like the “cousin” showing up out of the blue and wanting a share of the property. The cousin wasn’t mean per se, but she was an irritant in the happily ever after. I think I would have liked another story line regarding the property and finding a happier solution. However I like the characters as they are cute together and loveable.
Synopsis: Jenny and Brian’s wedding plans are interrupted when Meg arrives, claiming she’s also an heir to their inn. Now they must focus on raising the money to buy Meg out, and Brian considers returning to Wall Street, until Bucks County has a fundraiser. Still, they’re short on the funds they need, and an interested buyer shows up who intends to rebuild the aging structure rather than tenderly repair it like Jenny and Brian always have. For now, though, focusing on marrying is all that matters to these loving innkeepers, who hope their happy-ever-after can be spent creating more romance in Emily’s Inn.
I have to give it a 3 pumpkin rating (really a strong 3+) but not quite a 4
I do hope they come out with another installment as I really liked the couple.
Well I knew I needed to get my rear in gear if I was going to get the galley wall up before Halloween.
Having no idea how to do a gallery wall I checked out Pinterest and Youtube to find inspiration.
I discovered that you need to make templates of the different sized items and with painters tape, you can arrange the items on the wall.
Getting on the step stool and arranging took a little longer than I anticipated.
But low and behold I did it.
I have to admit it looks better in person than in the photos.
You have to forgive the crappy video I made. I could not glide over smoothly and really you cannot see a darn thing. But it is what it is.
Hopefully seeing this pictures will make it easier to see.
I tried hard to get the whole wall in one picture.
It did cut off the beware sign, but overall you can see all the signs and you can see the pillows and quilts.
Most items were bought at Joann’s Fabrics. When it went on a special sale for 60% off I could not resist.
After all Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.
The Trick or Treat bat was from Joann’s
The Witch Parking, a nice distress tin sign was from either Michaels or Joann’s. I cannot remember.
The flying lessons was from Joann’s. It was hard to find as they ran out. I found one stuck in another aisle and grabbed it.
The Pumpkin Patch sign was from Michael’s Crafts.
The orange October 31 sign is a Joann’s and I love the little spider handing from the 3.
The x-ray in sections is from Michael’s.
The Something Wicked sign is really heavy with a heavy rope hanger. I was concerned it might fall off the hooks. I bought it at Joann’s.
The round circle with a bug imbossed on the front is a Michael’s sale item.
High up on the wall is a witch hat with the phrase “I will get you my pretty” It also has a spider hanging from the tip of the hat.
Below that is the BEWARE sign from Target. This sign lights up the room. It has a solid glow or a mad scientist lab flicker. I decided It did not want to have a seizure, so I went with the solid light. LOL.
I also put my Halloween Pillows out on the couch with a few Halloween Quilts.
The pillows are from the 2017 Halloween Target dollar bin. I am not 100% sure of the velvet BOO! pillow.
The quilt in the back was from Cracker Barrel a few years ago. It has satin and lace and velvet squares.
This quilt I made 2 years ago from a kit on Connecting Threads. It was the fist quilt I did some fancy machine quilting. You cannot see it but I think an older post outlines the things I did.
There is also another Cracker Barrel quilt underneath it. But it is hard to see.
The pillow is new, it was from Pier One.
These sequin beauties are from Sam’s Club. I love the glitter and the orange and purple.
Here is a close up.
The beauty of this wall is that I will take the Halloween stuff down and add the autumn ones, then I will do the Christmas ones.
But I figured it was good for Halloween, Autumn and Christmas pending a little decoration.
I used some glue dots to hold an autumn leaf to the roof to make it “autumn”
See how roomy it is
All lit. This little table was a handmade table that my Uncle made for his Mother (my Grandmother). He died in WW2 at the young age of 21. My Mom used this table and did not use coasters so there are rings on the finish. One day I will sand and refinish it. It is the perfect little table (and it hold my gooseberry patch cookbooks).
All cozy and Autumn like!
Lovely side view of both the house and the rings on the table. LOL
Pumpkin Bread
I made pumpkin bread this morning. I bought this mix as Sam’s club.
I prefer the Libby brand but this brand is easy peasy and you can also make cookies and pancakes. I might try the cookies.
For variety I added some of the new Maple flavored morsels from Toll House.
Yummy chips in yummy batter.
I decided to use my new Rae Dunn platter. I guess I have started to collect these things. Ugh, I may be sorry. However I am not having a lot of luck in my search for Halloween items.
It came out moist and yummy with a hint of maple.
Nothing as good as moist yummy pumpkin bread in autumn.
and finally a quick post on something that was NOT on the autumn list an Iphone wallpaper.
I never, ever thought about changing the wallpaper on my phone I added this cutie to my iphone.
Watching Hallmark movies always bring in the season, either Harvest or Christmas.
Hallmark did a nice little preview to give you a sneak peek of the movies coming up on every Saturday.
If you missed the preview, you can catch it here.
I watched the first movie called “Truly, Madly, Sweetly”
