Papertrey Ink Anniversary Day Three – 17 Minute Card Challenge

February 7th, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts 3 Comments »

Papertrey Ink is having thier Anniversary!!!   I LOVE their products.   Todays Challenge is 7 items to make a card in 17 minutes.   Yikes, something always goes wrong.

First was finding 7 items in 7 minutes.   I grabbed the stuff on my desk….no time to search.   So I got my newest item, the Feather Finery Set.   Now not knowing if each stamp was one item or the stamp set was the item, I took the safe course.

1. Large Feather from Feather Finery Collection from Papertrey Ink
2. Large dots for the feather on the Feather Finery Collection from Papertrey Ink
3. Saying from Feather Finery Collection from Papertery Ink
4. White Cardstock
5. Versamark Ink
6. Recollection fine detail gold Embossing Powder
7, Hero Arts Mid-Tone Ink Tide Pool

Of course the feather did not stamp completely, but that is life.  To make the banner more colorful, I used the tidepool ink to color a scrap of the white cardstock.

Hope You Like It!!!!

Bonus Card – New Stenciing Products

February 2nd, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts 3 Comments »

On the Online Class there was a bonus day using two stencils.  I had gotten the new Heidi Swapp stencils at Michaels where they gave you three matching stencils in one package.  I thought this was perfect to create a cards with ink blending.  I used the star stencil with the diagonal lines using different colors of distress ink.   I made the hello from the Big Hello Die from Simon Says. and cut it 5 times and layered it.   I then used my clear Wink of Stella pen and then glazed it with Glossy Accents.  I really like how it came out!!!  Almost looks like an embellishment you can buy at the store.   I always wanted to try that!!!!

Unusual Techniques with Embossing Paste

February 2nd, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts 1 Comment »

Well this was a horse of a different color.  I am glad I tried this technique but not sure I will do it again.   Once you made a stencil from a die (in this case some leaves) and emboss it, you then use a selection of differnt embossing powders and let it dry.   I heated it up when I thought the past was dry, it did bubble in a few places where it was still wet.   When it was said and done, it felt like a rubber embellishment.  At first it was on white cardstock, but I really did not like that and cut the leaves out and placed on some Autumn paper from We R Memory Keepers.    To give it veins, I just used a brown slick writer on the leaves.

Texture and Dimension with Embossing Paste

February 2nd, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts No Comments »

I love embossing paste.  I have made a few cards with embossing paste and I just love it.  Black, white, gold, silver or translucent, Love them ALL!!!!!   This card using a Crafters Workshop wood grain stencil using the translucent paste to give the brown paper a wood grain look.   I also used the Papertrey Ink Year of Flowers – Mums to make the flowers.   I really like the detail of the stamp, I suspect I will be using this stamp quite a lot.  A few orange and green copics and the flowers was made in a minute!!!

Template Techniques with Stencils

February 2nd, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts No Comments »

For this card I was using some new techniques to use with templates.  Adding different colors and different patterns to a stencil to give a different look.

Using a mix of Hero Arts midtone ink and Simon Says new inks, plus the new simon says ink “colorcard” stamps, I was able to “duplicate” the card that Kristina Werner created.   Besides it gave me an excuse to buy The Tim Holtz splatter stencil.   But typical of any card making adventure, I had stamped the words crooked, so I have to alter the card base down and place it over some pretty colored paper from Studio Calico.  I think it came out cute!!!!!  But boy was it mesy, I had ink all over my fingers!

Misting a Card using a Stencil

February 2nd, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts 1 Comment »

The second card I made was using a misting technique.  I grabbed some Limited edition Glimmer mists called Dreamsicle and Sweet Pea!  I really wanted that pink and orange look with the POP of black.  Since I needed to make a card for a recent interview, I made this into a Thank You card.   Did I mention that I am addicted to enamel dots.  The only problem is different companies call them different things like sprinkles, candies, dots, etc.   So hard to find them on online shops.  Good thing I will be going to the Anaheim scrapbook expo, where I can hunt them down and add to my collection.  This was the first time I used the Simon Says Stamps Blank ink.   It was a very dark ink that covered very well!   I love it!!!!!

Sponging Pink Distress Ink over a Stencil Card

February 2nd, 2014 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts 2 Comments »

I LOVE taking classes from Online Card Classes!   This new class was about stencils, how to use them, how to do new techniques and finding creative ways to use stencils on your cards!!!!

This time it was so much nicer because they gave you an extra week to get stuff out there.  Normally I cant get the card done in time to post and therefore never really have a chance to win fabulous prizes!!!!  Boo Hoo!   This time I was able to make 7, yes you heard me SEVEN cards!!!!

For this first card was sponging color onto cards using a stencil to create a soft look!  I used a circle stencil from Studio Calico to create the look with distress inks.  I kept the ink darker in the upper corner and used a lighter color near the outer edges!  I had some cute heart shaped rhinestones that looked cute on the card!!!

12 Days of Christmas – Tag #5

December 13th, 2013 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts, Tag Challenge 1 Comment »

Continuing with the 12 days of Christmas tag challenge!!!

12

Todays Challenge comes from Kelly Alvarez from Lawn Fawn.  Here is her tag.

Here is mine.   I really wanted to try to use glitter foam and saw that this card was the opportunity!  Considering that it was a video from Lawn Fawn that showed me a placecard using foam, I think it is appropriate.  For those who care, Walmart has a nice selection that is heck of a lot cheaper than Michaels.      I swore I had the stamp set from Lawn Fawn with the trees.  Maybe I do, but I could not find it.  So I used those Lovely Trees from Stampin Up! again!    At least I use it!   LOL

I made my little fox a girl by adding eyelashes!  Thanks for the idea Kelly!!!  You can barely see  the snow falling, I discovered that white pigment ink does not show up well on this light blue so I ended up adding stickles to make the snow.   I probably should have used embossing paste!
