Twelve Days of Christmas Cards

November 9th, 2013 klwade Posted in Cardmaking, Crafts 2 Comments »

I am a sucker for Graphic 45.  I am also a sucker for matching stamp sets… and to make it worst I love all things Halloween, Autumn, and  Christmas.  So it should come as no surprise that I got that Graphic 45 Twelve Days of Christmas stamp set.

When I first saw this set I could envision a plain white card with gold embossing.   But I was not happy with plain cardstock.  It needed something else to make it elegant.   So I took out my Tim Holtz diffusers so I could dry emboss the surrounding areas with a white pattern and since it was Christmas I thought snowflakes would be just the thing it needed.

I really like how the card came out.  I still need to make the other days to complete the set.  Not sure if I am going to give the set to a friend, or mail them out individually.

Here is another great card from the stamp set I just used, but this time I went with a purple theme.  I wanted to use the new Anna Griffin dies that emboss…. oh how pretty it came out.  You can bet that there will be some future cards with her dies.  Especially the Christmas ones!!!!  I tried like the dickens to find a ribbon to match but nothing suited my fancy.  So I went without a ribbon.   This card definately has a feminine feel to it.   It probably needed something else, but I could dabble with it for days, so I decided to just say it was done!!!!  I will keep it until another friend gets sick…..oh maybe Katie,  she has been sick at home for quite a while.  Oh Goodie, this card just found a home.

My wonderful sister gave me the Just Rite Stamp set Chicken Soup Labels Four.  I just love stamp sets that match dies…. So of course every stamp set that has a matching die goes on the “Want” list.   But what is so wonderful about JustRite is that their stamps match the Spellbinders that I already own.  But not only did she give me this great stamp set, she got me the wonderful die set from Spellbinders called Captivating Squares that created the awesome background!!!!!   Love and kisses to my sister!!!!

I wanted to make a Get Well card for my friend Mary who is recovering from surgery!  I thought a handmade card would cheer her up!!!!  I need to get it into the mail but of course I had to photograph it for the Simon Says Wednesday Blog Challenge.

My first card is BOO!!!    I pulled some of my older Halloween papers and found my beloved Martha Stewart and Anna Griffin goodies!  Thank goodness they love Halloween as much as I do.

For those who care, the background paper for the photograph is from the Martha Stewart’s Vampire paper pad.

Simon Says Stamp October 2013 Card Kit – Autumn Tree

I really like the tree in this stamp set. Because I wanted to use the squirrel, I decided to cut a circle in the card and stamp the tree in the inside with the squirrel at the bottom.  I did different colors ink for the leaves to make it look more like Autumn.

Inside of the card, please ignore the slight cirle on the orange paper.   This paper did not take erasing pencil marks too well!!  And I did it lightly!!!!  Geez!!!

On this card I wanted to use the forest animals.  So I created a rosette with a tiny fox in the center.  I really like the wood grain paper as it gives a feel of the forest!!!

I challenged myself to make at least 3 cards from the monthly card kit.  It was easy with this one because I love Autumn and Squirrels!!!  LOL

I really loved the crisp blue paper with trees byt it begged for a little red cardinal sitting on a branch!   To bring out the red bird I framed the paper with red cardstock.  It just peeks out from the side and frames the little banner!  I used glossy accents on the bird to give it a little depth.
