Halloween is just around the corner…. I need to get out all my pumpkins, candles, spooky houses and other fun stuff. I love every Halloween when trick or treaters come to the door and they tell me how Cool my house looks. WIth my ghosts and mists and scary stuff. I always make sure it is not too scary because I love when the little kids come to the door in thier cute cute cute costumes. I am the type of house that gives out big candy bars because that is who I am!!!! This year will be slightly different. I now have a little dog named Olive whose job is to bark like crazy when the door bell rings. It will be a stressful night. Maybe she will get use to it. I plan on putting Olive into a costume. Of course. I just cannot decide what I think she should wear. Target has some cute pet costumes. I am just not sure. However back to this post. I went to Sam’s club and they have thier Christmas stuff out. Ugh! They have these yummy cookies that come in tall round tins and I hate to get rid of them. So I decided to make one of them into a Halloween Candy Treat Canister.
Since I am a big fan of all things Tim Holtz, I used his kraft resist Halloween Paper. For those who dont know what kraft resist is, it is a wonderful kraft color paper that has black images on it. Then they use a lacquer on it that so when you use his inks on the paper, the resist part creates a new image. I used the paper that had the poison labels. I used his Spiced Marmalade distress stain to make the paper orange and then used Seedless Preserves Ink (that is a wonderful purple color) to highlight the upper and lower portions of the paper. You can tell by the darker color on the bottom. It is hard to see all the cool imagines because the paper is wrapped around the canister and glued down. But take my word for it!!!!!
Since the canister was white, I spray painted the lid with Krylon Stone Metallic in Copper. It gave it a more rustic metal look. Then I added a Tim Holtz curio knob on top.
From the left over paper I cut out a posion tag and added it to black cardstock. I distress the tag the same way. Then I added a bunch of halloween ribbons from Michaels.
This project was quick and easy and since the cookies come in a set of 4, they would make a cute halloween gift for friends, teachers, etc. If you have no desire to eat the cookies you can give them away with the cookies inside. However my cookies seemed to disappear when I was scrapbooking. Gee I wonder what happened to them! tee-hee
On the tag you can see the resist much better. I added some glitter spiders from Michaels. I think they were 2.99 for 6 spiders in both orange and black.
You can also use Tim Holtz seasonal kraft resist paper. That set has all the holidays so you can do this for Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter…etc.

I just got some new Hero Arts stamps…. and for those who know me, Autumn and Halloween are my favorite. I think if I divided my stamps out, half of them would fall into this catagory!!!! Some people love summer, I love Autumn. There is nothing like wind blowing leaves from trees that have turned gold, brown, orange and yellow. Pumpkins, tons of pumpkin, pumpkin patches, pumpkin pie, just any thing with pumpkins. Warm scarves. Snuggling under a warm blanket. Oh How I love Autumn.
To do this card I used my distress inks. I did a light color and brought it in towards the middle. Then I used a red/rust color and brought it in about an inch and then the edges with a brown color. I then used the lucscious yummy colors from Wendy Vecchi from Ranger. I had been eyeing them for some time. I went to Beverly Fabrics to pick up some Glossy Accents and they had all the new colors AND they were on sale for 30% off. Yahoo!!!! I love Beverly’s and my bank has a deal that gives me cash back of 10% on my purchases. Can’t get any better than that. Because the new colors were screaming autumn and leaves I took out the new Scattering Leaves stamps from Hero Arts. I just randoming stamped them with the new colors around the edges.
Supplies:
Marshmellow cardstock from Bazzil
Scattering Leaves Stamp Set from Hero Arts
Leaves Autumn Stamp Set from Hero Arts
Distress Ink by Tim Holtz for Ranger Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon, Gathered Twigs
Archival Ink by Wendy Vecchi for Ranger: Potting Soil, Orange Blossom, Red Geranium, Fern Green

Sometimes I still want to pick up the phone and call my Mother. It is hard to believe that she has been gone for two years. Mom, I think of you daily!
This layout was made mostly from the Graphic 45 Secret Garden 12×12 paper pack. I wanted a frame around the layout so I cut out the frame from a very busy page and laid it over a more neutral paper.
To make the layout more interesting, i cut out three of the flower images and used glossy accents to make them look like enamel embellishments.
I did not like the flowers that I made from the paper, so I resorted pulling out some Anna Griffin flowers. I might have gone overboard on the flowers, but heck, they are just so pretty!!!
To make the other flowers POP I used that awesome clear Wink of Zella pen. I love it, it is like stickles but with a brush!!! The ribbon is a handmade crinkled seam binding I made some time ago. I love making my own crinkled seam binding. I use either Sprinklers by October Afternoon or Glimmer Mists by Scattered Angels. I have even made them using easter egg dyes. To be honest, I don’t remember what I used on this ribbon!!!! I also have very tiny pearls on the frame. you cant really see them in the photo unless you click on the photo to make it larger. But I know they are there.
Supplies:
Graphic 45 Secret Garden 12×12 paper pack
Handmade seam binding
Tim Holtz Ideaology Memo pins
Zva creative tiny pearls
Crystal Accents by Ranger
Anna Griffin layered Rose stickers
Wink of Zella pen, clear glitter

OK, I will be honest. I ran out of time and had to cut the heart when the clay was still wet. There is just never any time to get anything done. 🙂 That did not work at all!!!! 🙁
I colored the clay and then added some glittery embossing powder. I did not have the kind they used in the video, but I liked the clay….just needed more time.

Well I discovered much to my shock and horror that I never ordered Berry Sorbet cardstock! Egads!!!!! So I had a slow start as I was trying to find where I put it in the craft room. I finally went online and checked my orders where I discovered my error. Ok, it was added to the wishlist for next time. So I lost an hour or two fussing with this stuff.
Finally I sat down to do the card after selecting my color themes and the sketch!
I decided to use the new Nuts for you stamp and do the squirrel. For those who know me, I love squirrels. Of course now I need to go back and order the fox. Oh it never ends.
Here is the card I made
Supplies:
Papertrey Cardstock: Melon Berry, Summer Sunrise, Terrcotta Tile, Orange Zest
