Yikes!  It has taken me a whole week to get Day two done.   Tim does not mess around when it comes to teaching us techniques.   He packs a full class.

Day Two is all about Distress Paint and Sprays

I have learned so much, and have made a mess of my craft area and have stained my fingers.  LOL

• Distress Paint Resist Technique

I decided on this card to go for the Halloween look.

I have some older Anna Griffin stamps that had large words.  This was perfect for the tag and card.  I love the broken glass stsncil and it looks like a spider web.

• Distress Paint Lifting Technique.

For both the tag and card I used some valentine themed items.  Not your traditional LOVE type cards, but it works for me.  I dyed the ribbon to match the distress colors.

• Distress Stain Rub Resist Technique

This tag and card was hard.  I must have had this rubon for a million years.  It was almost impossible to get onto the paper.   I tried heating it.  rubbing it.  cursing at it.   I finally got it to work.   So glad I did not rip the paper.

I even dyed the cord with Distress Carved Pumpkin.

• Distress Luminous Mica Technique

I liked the Mica spray.  This spray can be addictive.

For the card I decided to used the Hero Arts Goldfish.   I also added some bubbles with Glossy Accents.

• Distress Marker Spritzed Watercolor Technique

I know I bought a Distress Marker Sprintzer but I could not find it anywhere.  I finally had to buy a new one.  I search everywhere.  Finally a local store had it.   I was sure the moment I got home the other one would show up.   LOL.

I fought this spritzer tooth and nail.  When I finally got the hang of it, I was pretty much done.   It tends to move the marker to the side, so I was not getting any spray from the marker.   Once I figured it out, it finally marked my paper.

Since I just bought the Tim Holtz Summer dies, I had to make a shaker card using the palm tree and the words.

I am a huge fan of Tim Holtz products.  I love the distress line and the many things I can do with it.  I learned a lot in his Creative Chemistry 101 and 102.

It was nice of Online Card Class to re-open the two older classes to allow people to relearn or sign up for the first time the other two classes.

There are so many techniques I would highly recommend that anyone take these classes.

My one complaint is that the class length should be two weeks instead of one.  There are so many techniques to learn that is is impossible to keep up.

It is Day Four and I just finished Day One tags and cards.  Maybe I do too much, but I really wanted to practice these techniques!

Oh well, onto the tags and cards.

Distress Ombre Effect

I loved making my own ink pad.   I was so excited when I brayered that color on the lid of the ink pad.   Soooo pretyy.  Nicer than I thought it would be.

I wanted a sunset color so I used Mustard See, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral and Seedless Preserves

 .

I used the Tim Holtz Butterflies to do the ombre effect.   I had to rotate the stamp three times as I worked my way down the tag.

I got a little carried away with the card.  I was using a new watercolor pen and it became obsessed!

Distress Highlight Stamping Technique

I had such high hopes for this one.   The first stamp set did not have enough “body” to make it stand out.

So for the card I used a solid stamp.  Geez it took me forever.

Then it needed something and I splattered it with paint.

Now listen to me CAREFULLY!   Practice first before splattering your project.

As this will happen to you!!!!

So we add some Nuvo drops on the card hoping you will not see the big brown blotches on the card.    LOL

Distress Off-Set Stamping Technique

I liked this technique as it does remind me of antique cards

I used a older stamp set from Flourishes.org    I was happy to see they reopened their shop again.  They made the prettiest fruits and flowers.

Distress Washed Watercolor Technique

I really like the Micro Glaze.   Way cool.  I had not heard of it before this class.  Oh that Tim Holtz is always bringing us something to new to play with

Now for a little colorful shell

I made the ribbon by using the same inks that I used on the card

Distress Micro Glaze Resist Technique

This one was a challenge as I did not have a lot of spray to choose from, but I liked the green and blues.  Reminds me of the ocean.

I had fun with this card.  I cut the tag into sections and used come glitter in-between the panels.   I had this mermaid stamp set forever and never used it.   It is hard to see but I added shimmer to the mermaid.

Well this was a good day one class.

I have been trying to catch up with old card kits.   I am on a roll, but I keep finding boxes that I have stashed away in interesting places.

I really like this card kit.  I like the red, white and blue color theme and the stamp set is just inspiring!

I made SIX cards with this kit.  I think I could have made more, but there are stacks on boxes to go thru.   I am sooooo behind!

To start with, I wanted to dive into the color theme.  I made a simple card that really focuses on the colors.

The next card is also a simple design.  I loved this pattern paper and really wanted it to be a major focus on the page.  I pulled out my favorite large word die from Simon Says Stamp.  This HELLO die has been on several of my cards and I just love it.    I die cut several “hello” and glue them together to give it thickness.   Whenever I do this I think it looks just like a Thicker chipboard word.

For this card I wanted to use some of the puffy stickers that came in the kit.  I die cut the typewriter print paper with a postage stamp die frame.  Which just pulls the whole “Mail/Typewriter” theme together on this card.

To continue the mail theme, I colored in a Tim Holtz crazy bird.  I even cut a slit in card to slide an envelope under his beak.   I used Glossy Accents on his eyes to give him some extra dimension, but I don’t think you can see it very well in this picture.   I copic colored the envelopes to change the color of the paper to match the bird.   I really like this bird.   I know this bird will be back!

I decided on this card to pull away from the mail/envelopes/color theme and do something different.  I used an embossing folder that gave this great dimension on the paper.  It is simple, yet elegant.

My final card, and my favorite card started out as a mistake.

I was trying to make stripes and they looked funny and awkward.  So I blended it all together and it started to look like a sunset on the ocean.

I added some black foliage on the bottom.  It looks so serene I decided to make it a somber card that I can send to someone having a hard time.

Oh, this goes by so fast.  I wait all year and then BAM it is over.

I cannot wait to hear about next year’s theme.

But I also know him for his famous quote

Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes

I am waiting for my 15 minutes.   I hope it is a good 15 minutes.

I wanted something similar but definitely different.

Since Andy was an icon in the 60’s I thought the cute pyrex bowls would reflect that era perfectly.  The Papertrey Ink Bowl of Sunshine Set was perfect for this card.

At first I was not thrilled with this card, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.  Sans a few obvious errors I made, it came out cute and definitely has the Andy Warhol look.

I have a secret crush on all Kay Miller designs.  Every month I immediately go to her blog page to see what she has created with the new Papertrey Ink products on sneak peek week.

So I was super excited to see her participate in this year’s Stamp-a-Faire.

Her card was inspiring

I did not want to use the same stamp set but did want to capture the beauty she did in her card.

I ended up using Papertrey Ink’s Meadow Greens Stamp Set.

I also notice I seem to have a real hard time lining up my card front on my cards.  LOL.  This is not the first and is NOT the last time you will see a crooked card from me.   Hopefully you are taken back by the beauty of the flowers and you fail to notice this opps!!!

OK, this one I was excited to try.   This picture was so inspiring.

And of course I have loved George Seugat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island La Grande Jatte forever!

I poured over my stamps and kept looking at the florals.  But then I saw the butterflies.   And I just knew.

I wanted to make one butterfly in the cool colors and the other in the warm colors. I used a copic marker to make the little butterfly bodies.  I was thinking I wish they had a stamp with the bodies.   And then I discovered they did!  And worst then that, I actually have the stamp set.  LOL.

I stamped Dark Chocolate on the base and only glued down the bodies on the card.  You can see how the wings have lifted off the page.   I also used Crystal Accents on the bodies so it was more pronounced.   I then discovered that I am lacking all warm color sequins.  So I settled on clear ones.   Gee I guess I need to go on a sequin shopping spree picking up those warm colors.

I used the Papertrey Ink Beautiful Butterflies Stamp and Die set.

Added to Word Art Wednesday Challenge #240-241 Anything Goes

I will be honest, I dragged my feet on making this one.  I was thinking it would be a painful process.  But actually I enjoyed making it. When that first ink filled yarn scrap hit the paper I was inspired.  I was not sure about the color choices I wanted but just keep picking up different inks.   I used grass green, deep blue and a honey yellow paint on my card.  I then splattered it with gold metallic paint.

I used the Papertrey Ink New Leaf and Enchanted Evening Card stock.

I also used the Papertrey Ink Big Basics Birthday Die.

I dotted the “I’s” with green rhinestones.

Again this was a difficult choice to make for my card inspiration.

Since I had just bought a pineapple stamp, I was swayed to use this image as my inspiration.

Melissa Phillips made this awesome card from the print above.

Here is my version.

I used Papertrey Ink Rustic Cream cardstock and the Keep It Simple: Home Mini Stamp Set.

The pineapple is from Hero Arts.

I used a random dot back ground stamp to give it some texture and splatters some black ink on the card to give it a more primitive art look.

As you probably may have noticed, this card was not the first one I made.   I skipped over Master Color Recipes and jumped right into the Starry Night.

There were so many beautiful paintings and color combinations, I could not make up my mind.

I decided on the Soul of the Rose by John William Waterhouse.  Such a beautiful painting.  I kept going back to it and decided it was definitely the one I wanted to use.

I used the Papertrey Ink Sunflower Bouquet Stamp set and water colored the images with the papertrey inks listed above.

I decided to add a ribbon to my card by dyeing it Canyon Clay on one end and Pale Peony on the other end.   It ended up looking more like Canyon Clay, but it still works for me.

I enjoyed making this one and liked how it turned out.
